Prarthana is a community development specialist, currently employed at Sofar Sounds as the Global Community Development Lead. Her primary focus is on developing a progress path for the volunteers involved with Sofar around the world and representing their needs and aspirations in the larger commercial goals of the company as it grows.

With the slowly changing perception around the way music and performance is seen as a viable career in India, it is increasingly important to build a culture of support and respect around the artists in this space. Current students of music who will go on to become managers, producers, venue owners, avid listeners and regular attendees of live music and entertainment in the next few years can start learning to be critical, aware and supportive of the different facets in the creative industries from an early age to build a culture of progress in their activities as they grow.

In this workshop, she lead the students through few activities to understand key stakeholders in a live music event, how live music events work, and how to set one up to be beneficial for all involved.

masterclass with raphaelle brochet

When two accomplished artists cross paths along the road of life it is destined for nothing short of true art to emerge.Raphaelle Brochet and Philippe Aerts are two such people.

Their music is the interflow of two lifetime’s music paths: Raphaelle's whole childhood steeped into Jazz music and her dedication to World music in general and Carnatic music in particular (blessed as the sixth generation of the direct lineage of South Indian composer Muthuswami Deekshitar); Philippe tremendous experience of playing, recording and travelling with a number of great jazz musicians from all over the world since the age of 16. Empowered by these unique enrichments, they convey the sacred of music, and move flawlessly from one genre to another like water through the cracks, creating stories as they move through a world of sound.

The duo did a lecture demonstration of their work and technique followed by a Q&A.
